Barbara Fracisco Mertes Memorial Performing Arts Transfer Scholarship
The Barbara Fracisco Mertes Memorial Performing Arts Transfer Scholarship is open to Las Positas College students graduating from one of the performing arts fields, such as theater, dance or music programs, and transferring to an accredited four-year college or university for continued study in such performing arts areas. Candidates need to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must graduate this spring.
Student must be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen, or is AB540-eligible under the California Dream Act. Foreign students with an Educational Visa are not eligible.
The scholarship will pay up to the full cost of attendance up to a maximum of $15,000 at a transfer institution. The amount of each scholarship will be determined by the student’s official cost of attendance less the value of any grants or scholarships awarded at the transfer institution. The award is renewable and the awardee shall thereafter be preferred as a candidate for a renewal scholarship until such time as the appointing committee determines that the candidate has completed his/her academic program, or ceased to make reasonable progress toward such completion, or has ceased to be regularly enrolled at the institution to which the student transfers.

For Actors: Include on your resume a link to website or digital file sharing service with two (filmed) contrasting monologue performances, approximately 2 minutes each OR an actors reel of performed work.
For Stage Technicians: 3-5 pages of design examples or prompt books/cue sheets OR include on your resume a link to website with design examples or prompt books/cue sheets
FOR DANCE:
1. Upload resume highlighting Dance involvement.
2. On resume provide a link to a 2 minute video of dance performance and/or choreography.
FOR MUSIC:
For Music Performance: On resume provide a link to website or digital file sharing service with video or audio of 2-3 musical performances
For Music Composition: On resume provide a link to website or digital file sharing service with a complete score and audio (MIDI mockups are acceptable) which best exemplifies your work.
For Music Education: On resume provide a link to website or digital file sharing service with video or audio of 2-3 musical performances. You may substitute a 10-15 minute video recording of a teaching demonstration for one musical performance.
