Barbara & David Mertes Memorial Transfer Scholarship

The Barbara and David Mertes Memorial Transfer Scholarship is open to a Las Positas College student who is graduating this spring with an AA, AS, AAT or AST in any discipline and transferring to an accredited four-year college or university this fall for continued study. Candidates need to have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Student must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible noncitizen, or is AB540-eligible under the California Dream Act. Foreign students with an Educational Visa are not eligible. Student’s behavior must be compliant with the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Standards of Student Conduct as defined by board policy and administrative procedure.

The scholarship will pay the cost of attendance up to a maximum of $30,000 at a transfer institution. The amount of each scholarship will be determined by the student’s official cost of attendance less the value of any grants or scholarships awarded at the transfer institution. The award is renewable and the awardee shall thereafter be preferred as a candidate for a renewal scholarship until such time as the appointing committee determines that the candidate has completed his/her academic program, or ceased to make reasonable progress toward such completion, or has ceased to be regularly enrolled at the institution to which the student transfers.
