The Livingston Family Scholarship
Marjorie Adele Andrews Livingston, a beloved wife, mother, and philanthropist, passed away on December 21, 2022, at the age of 96. Throughout her life, Marj exemplified generosity, faith, and a deep commitment to her community. A graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration, Marj was not only an accomplished professional but also a devoted mother and wife. Alongside her husband, Jim, she helped establish the James P. and Marjorie A. Livingston Endowed Chair in Nursing at UCSF, the first-ever endowed chair for rural nursing care. Together, they also created scholarships at Modesto Junior College, Las Positas College, and Diablo Valley College, reflecting their shared passion for education and their desire to give back to the communities that shaped their lives.
Marj’s legacy of love, kindness, and support for others lives on through the Livingston Family Scholarship, which will continue to help students pursue their educational dreams and honor the values she and Jim cherished. Whether it was through her work, her volunteer efforts, or her philanthropic endeavors, Marj’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to helping others, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.
