The Barbara and David Mertes Memorial Scholarship - Valley Care

Dr. Barbara Mertes (1930-2015), a life-long Livermore resident, was a key force in establishing Las Positas College and served on the college district board of trustees for fourteen years. Her husband, Dr. David Mertes (1931-2014), was a founding member of the LPC Foundation, served as CA Community College Chancellor and as chair of the ValleyCare Health System board of directors and with Rotary International, established medical programs in Yugoslavia and Russia.
