Nissen Family Scholarship

Nissen Family Scholarship

Charles Graham Nissen spent over 40 years ranching in the Livermore area, following a proud legacy of his ancestors who settled in the Valley in the 1800s. The Nissen family was deeply embedded in the fabric of Livermore’s history, playing an important role in the development and growth of the region. Charles, known for his hardworking nature and integrity, carried on the family tradition of dedication to the land and the community. A philanthropist at heart, he devoted much of his time and resources to causes he believed in, with a special focus on supporting education and healthcare initiatives.

Alongside his wife, Anna Nissen, who came from a family that operated the well-known Holdner Dairy in the area, the Nissens were recognized for their generosity and commitment to improving the lives of those around them. Their contributions to the Livermore Valley extended beyond their ranching work—they understood the importance of education and public well-being, and their philanthropic efforts have had a lasting impact on the community. Their belief in the value of helping others and making a difference in the world has inspired future generations to continue their work. Through this scholarship, the Nissen family’s legacy lives on, providing opportunities for others to thrive and succeed, just as they did throughout their lives.
